First, I bought the Petsmate vesion and it sucked. So, I bought the Drinkwell and loved it. When the moter burned out because I ran it without and water, I knew I had to buy a new one. I decided to buy the newer version, the Platinum and I am not dissapointed. My cat loves it as much as the original and I love it even more. It has improved features such as a decrease in noise while running and pet hair traps. If you've never owned one of these waterers you will find that your pet drinks more than ever before. Lotta (nammed after the lottery which helped me afford the pet deposit and the shelter fee so I could adopt her) is very happy with ttis. She does spend more time at the water dish since I bought the fountain and I'm guessing it's because the constantly circulating water tastes better. This is the 2nd fountain I've bought, the first from another company not lasting for more than a few months. I've had this now for a longer time and especially appreciate the cleaning instructions that come with it and were lacking from the previous product. I have noticed that she also has, for an indoor cat, become a more active and content cat, although I don't know how much of a factor the fresher watr supply is. I do suspect that it is a factor in her health. And I'm happier because the maintenance for this one is much simpler.
